What the phone is going on here?

What was that?

Did you just see a pig fly?

Something crazy impossible might be going on because...

I now have a smartphone!
Smart phones not made for small hands.

Whaaa?

But don't worry.

Hell has not frozen over.

It is not an iPhone.

Nor do I have text messaging.

Ok, so what are your must-have apps? Do tell!

  1. I prefer to use my iPhone as a phone. I never end up listening to music on it or watching Netflix, though the Netflix app is good. I have a bunch of apps, but only use a handful of them, and I think I've only ever paid for one app.

I love my GPS app (I do a lot of driving and my navigating skills leave much to be desired).

Also, my Kindle app, which I was vehemently against until I nursed a baby for nine months. (The contraction timer app came in handy at one time as well. :-)

Our library also has an app available to check out books to read, which I use religiously.

  4. Gah! Google just lost my comment!

So I was saying that I forgot that I used to have a robot phone! Hopefully Grady won't be crushed (and maybe the robots will still call the smartphone? Who knows!)

Can't wait to try all the new apps! Thanks for the suggestions.

Claire, I plan to use my phone as mainly a phone too. I bought the cheapest data plan and will probably only use 4G when it's absolutely critical (e.g., like when I need to know an LSU score and I'm not near a wifi signal - you know, emergencies).

  5. I like the Kindle ap too. and some kind of sudoku ap. And there is an ap called shazam that tells you what song is playing. Here's an example from my drive home yesterday: What is that really cool song playing on the radio? Wait, I'll just shazam it. Oh! it's No One Else on Earth by Wynonna. Awesome!

  6. I too have the lowest data plan and I never come near my limit.

Though I might have the other day because I was in TJ Maxx scanning items with the Amazon app to compare prices. It's slightly addictive. I was looking at Thomas the Tank stuff for Kelly and the thing I was looking at in the store was 16.99... the price on Amazon? 34 bucks!! I then just scanning like crazy and every single time TJ Maxx would be lower.

I probably looked insane but whatever. :)

  7. Hahaha at the TJ Maxx story - that is pretty cool though! I always am curious if it would be cheaper on Amazon. Very cool.

Katie, that shazam sounds cool! I might have to give it a try...

  8. Yeah, Dropbox is also great. You install it on your computer (or you can just go onto your online dropbox account) and transfer files. Very handy

  10. open table is cool we just dont have a lot of restaurants in BR that use it. evernote is like dropbox but even cooler.
Pinterest has an app but does not work that well for me (hopefully they will update it soon)

  11. I love my productivity apps....SpringPad and Evernote. My recipes live in SpringPad now, so when I'm at the store, I can look up my recipes and ingredients instantly. And they are both great for keeping lists of books I want to read :)
