Day 2 in NYC: The day of museums

Bogdan's dad is an artist (which has some really great perks and you will see why in a few posts from now) and so we knew that his favorite part of the NYC trip would be the museums - the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA and Guggenheim. Because our MOMA plans on Friday evening didn't quite work out, we decided we'd do the Met in the morning, MOMA in the afternoon, and Guggenheim in the evening.

But first!

We needed to see a few humongous Christmas trees and ice rinks. Where could we find those? Well, in Bryant Park and Rockefeller Center, that's where.

After the requisite Christmas tree viewing (which was spectacular by the way) we got in a cab and headed to the Met. I won't lie - I thought for a few moments about Jenny Humphrey sitting on the Met steps (she was not there).

The Met was so ridiculously big. Think Louvre big. We spent a few hours there and Vlad was in art heaven. After a couple of hours, Wanda and I were exhausted so we left the boys to tour and we headed to the American Wing Cafe and had coffee and croissants.

Luckily we were smart enough to look when MOMA closed (it was Christmas Eve) and found out it was at 3 p.m. So at 1:30 we bought tickets for Wanda and Vlad who spent 1 hour and a half at MOMA while Bogdan and I spent about just as much time in the MOMA design store (so cool).

We had a super late lunch after MOMA closed and then walked down to Time's Square. Bogdan and I were completely underwhelmed by Times Square when we were there a few summers ago, but this time, as we walked up and the sun went down the bright lights, the fast moving images, the people, the sensory overload - it was amazing.

Once again we made an executive decision against the Guggenheim and instead went back to Rockefeller Center to see it lit up for the nighttime. Not surprisingly, it was even better than the daytime.

Before we knew it, it was time to get in a cab and head to Penn Station to catch our train home. We left the station happy, exhausted and excited. The NYC trip was a success!
