We had a 5:30 a.m. flight from New Orleans and a noon arrival in Baltimore. We rented a car and drove 50 miles to Frederick, checked in to the hotel, drove another 30 miles to Gaithersburg, had lunch with Bogdan's new boss, drove back to Frederick - leaving Bogdan behind - returned to the hotel, dropped off bags, and then proceeded downtown for our first showing. Sigh. Five showings later, we were ready to drop dead. But we still wanted to explore our new city. We picked Bogdan up, walked around downtown and found a place to eat dinner.
Had this been in Baton Rouge, we would have been miserable, grumpy and overall not nice; but seeing as the town of Frederick is beautiful, historic, interesting, eclectic, vibrant and exciting we had a blast.

The skyline is filled with church steeples and beautiful historic buildings. The downtown stretched not just a block or two, but several streets and many, many blocks.

Each street offering something a little different than the others. One - named Church - had beautiful historic churches. Another - Patrick - was quiet and charming. Another - Market - was alive and vibrant. And then the multiple cross streets with interesting homes and a great mix of odd inhabitants.

A newly developed part of the city, Carroll Creek, is a pedestrian-only walk way with a small creek flowing by and shops, restaurants and condos lining the street. Our walk at dusk on Thursday night was dotted by filled restaurant patios, a concert with hundreds of attendees, dogs, dogs and more dogs, children on bikes, and lots of people just walking, enjoying the cool weather and light breeze.
